PHOTOGRAPHY IS FROZEN MUSIC Photography can be described with metaphors from music very well. There are also common terms like composition and arrangement. A photo can be like a note, a riff or a melody, a series of photos like a rhythm or a harmony. They can tell a story, just like a song. Thinking further, a photo project can also be like a record. Both music and photography are important means of expressing myself. Since I keep coming across these metaphors when I talk about one discipline or the other, I have arranged my photographs in this book in chapters under terms that are actually reserved for music. But from my point of view, they fit my photographs as well. Since 2021, I have been compiling a book each year with my photographs from the previous year. It’s not necessarily about the „best“ images, but rather a selection that best reflects what moved me photographically during that time. Together, they tell the story of my photographic year – in the way that feels most authentic to me. Each year, I follow a slightly different approach, whether consciously or unconsciously. I evolve. Not in a straight line, but always moving forward in some way. If you’re interested in a copy, drop me a line.
